World-class racing action, good food and music at Toyota Motor Philippines’ 35th year celebration.
Nothing beats a day filled with excitement and cheer in celebration of the shared love for cars and adrenaline rush through motorsports. But Toyota Motor Philippines amps up the game by bringing none other than Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda or “Morizo” to display his excellent driving skills for motorsports fans.
Championship-winning international and Filipino racers will also be showcasing their drifting and gymkhana skills to celebrate 35 thrilling years of making ever-better cars through motorsports. Good music, food and exclusive prizes and perks await you, too!
The TGR Festival, the biggest #ToyotaGazooRacing gathering in the country, to be held at Quirino Grandstand in Manila from August 23 to 24 is TMP’s gift to loyal fans and racing enthusiasts. Here are the top reasons to attend this two-day festival:
Not many can say that their company chairman and former president is also a race car driver and joins motorsports events, including the Nürburgring, under the racing team he developed himself. For an automotive company like Toyota, who hosts big motorsports events, it only makes sense that the chief test driver be more than a car lover, but a master.
Watch Toyota President Akio Toyoda, who has been using the name Morizo when he joins motorsports events, show off his rally skills at the TGR Festival alongside Filipino and fellow Japanese pro racers to kick-off the celebrations.
Motorsports and developing cars that can survive rough and challenging roads go hand in hand.
The nine-time All Japan Rally champion Norihiko Katsuta will fire up the tracks alongside
Morizo, as well as Masahiro Sasaki, Toyota’s level 2 Automotive Technician and development
driver for new models and tires. Both drivers were involved in the development of Toyota sports
cars GR Yaris and the GR 86, respectively.
Former Vios Cup champion Luis Gono, 6-time lateral drift champion Alex Perez, TGR ambassador Marlon Stockinger and drifting enthusiast Ryan Agoncillo will also join the drifting and gymkhana exhibition using TGR's performance cars GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR 86.
Watch Katsuta and Sasaki operate the legendary race cars Toyota Yaris WRC and the Red Bull GR Corolla. Designed to compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC), the Yaris WRC has been competing under the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT banner since 2017 and was used by Morizo used to develop the GR Yaris. The Red Bull GR Corolla enjoys a legacy of its own, being the drift car that 2022 WRC World Champion Calle Rovampella used to win the Formula Drift Japan competition, without having used the car prior.

It’s not a festival without lively music and good food! P-Pop boy group BGYO will be opening the two-day event on Aug 23 with their powerful performances. In the afternoon, let Filipino rock icon Ely Buendia’s nostalgic rock songs hype you up, and Ben&Ben’s soothing and relatable music put you in a good mood as you cap off the day. Parokya ni Edgar and Kamikazee will conclude the event on Aug 24, so ready your best shoes as you’ll surely be jumping and even headbanging throughout the performances.
Ready yourself to feel the thrill of Toyota Motor Philippines’ national e-motorsports championship with the National Finals of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo Cup (TGR GT Cup) on day 2 of the TGR Festival. The eight sporting class qualifiers will go head-to-head in this final stage for a slot at the Asia Regional.
Catch Russel Reyes, Jether Miole, Matthew Ang, Mark Elman, Luis Moreno, Topher Tejada, Estefano Rivera and Bob Villangca fight for a chance to represent the Philippines at the TGR GT Cup Asia Regional in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Toyota is bringing the thrill of the races closer to Filipinos this year by holding its biggest GAZOO Racing event right in the metro. Although past TGR Vios Cups have been held in the metro as well, this is the first time TGR Festival is being held in the heart of Manila and made open to the public. Be sure to bring fans and water bottles and prepare to enjoy the heat of the races!
Creating cars that respond accordingly and intuitively whatever the road conditions are is Toyota’s philosophy. Cars as the product of conversations between drivers and their lived experiences on the tracks. Watch Toyota create happiness in mobility and share it with the people just as passionate about cars. Meet your heroes and interact with fellow fans and celebrate the TOYOTA GAZOO spirit!
